ST. LOUIS • Before he could field any questions about the trade to the Cardinals or the opportunity he has in spring training to elbow his way into a crowded outfield, Justin Williams had to address why he won't participating in full workouts immediately.
Williams, 23, arrived at the Winter Warm-Up on Saturday with his right hand clasped in a white splint. He fractured his fingers and injured his hand in mid-December when he punched a television. He said the reason for punching the television was "personal," but he made it clear it was not a sporting event and something more emotional.
